A six-day hands-on training programme on “Recent Advances in Soil and Water Management in Brackishwater Aquaculture” was organized by Environment Section of Aquatic Animal Health & Environment Division (AAHED) during 25 – 30 June 2018 at ICAR – Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (CIBA), Chennai. The training programme was inaugurated by Dr.S.V.Alavandi, HOD, AAHED on 25th June 2018. In the inaugural address he highlighted that pond environment is vital for sustainable aquaculture production and remarked that Environment Section is working on globally important aspects like climate change, GHG emissions, etc., and environment lab is enriched with sophisticated equipment and urged the participants to utilise the opportunity and facilities. Dr.M.Muralidhar, SIC, Environment Section and Coordinator of the training programme outlined the importance of soil and water quality management in the current context of P.vannamei farming.
