A successful Farmer-scientist-industry interaction meet on Sustainable Shrimp Farming was organized at the Kakdwip Research Centre of ICAR-CIBA on November 28th, 2024, with active participation from 40 farmers from the Kakdwip block of South 24 Parganas, W.B. The event was sponsored by the Sundeep Packaging Industry, Kolkata, MoU partner for CHINGUDIPLUS feed technology of ICAR-CIBA, which will soon start production of shrimp feed CHINGUDIPLUS developed by KRC of ICAR-CIBA for shrimp culture in eastern region of India. The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Debasis De, Head of KRC. Mr. Biju I.F., Scientist and Dr. Sanjay Das, Principal Scientist at KRC delivered a lecture on Better Management Practices of Shrimp Farming and disease management aspects. Dr. Debasis De, Head of KRC, elaborated on “CHINGUDIPLUS” feed developed by ICAR-CIBA and discussed on ideal feed management practices for sustainable shrimp farming. Shrimp farmers expressed their concerns of new emerging diseases, raising cost of production which are hampering the profitability and sustainability of shrimp culture. The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sanjay Das, Principal Scientist, KRC.
