ICAR-CIBA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for mentoring the start-ups in fisheries and aquaculture sector with Crescent Innovation and Incubation Council (CIIC), Chennai which is the “Incubation partner” for Invest India initiative on 14th February 2023.
The areas identified for mentoring support to the start-ups by CIBA are developing high efficient and cost effective feed formulations for brackishwater aquaculture, enhancing product quality, IoT and AI based water quality management systems and market connectivity strategies. While signing the MoU Dr. Kuldeep K. Lal, Director, ICAR-CIBA emphasized the importance of networking with various institutions to bring in new concepts, products and services that would greatly benefit the brackishwater aquaculture sector.
Mr. Parvez Alam, CEO, CIIC explained about the incubation partner support being extended by them to more than 120 startups in various sectors. He also narrated that they could win the Fisheries Startup Grand Challenge based on their credentials and infrastructure in their facility. Dr. Nisha Mukund, General Manager, R&D, CIIC explained mode of mentoring for the startups and also the support under the Prathan Manthri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) to the tune of 40-60% as subsidy assistance. Dr. R. Jayakumar, Principal Scientist and team leader briefly outlined the startups promoted by the Government of India and mentoring programme planned for fisheries and aquaculture startups. The program ended with vote of thanks by Dr. P.K. Patil, Principal Scientist & OIC, ITMU of CIBA.
