On 28th December 2022, 32 final year B.F.Sc. students, faculty of Fishery Sciences, West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, Kolkata, along with three faculty members visited the Muttukadu Experimental Station (MES) of ICAR-CIBA. The objective of this exposure visit was to gain practical knowledge on the research activities of the institute so that students are inspired to take up research or private enterprise as career. Dr.D.Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist, Social Sciences Division coordinated the visit and highlighted the research and farm activities of the centre. The students planted tree sapling at the institutional premises. This was followed by a visit to the shrimp, crab and fish hatcheries, feed mill and farm facilities. The research activities were explained by Shri.S.Rajamanickam, Senior Technical Officer, Crustacean Culture Division. This visit provided a learning opportunity that harmonized the students’ proclivity to know more about research and development in fisheries and aquaculture.
