More than 100 scientists, technical officers, research scholars and students have participated and gave oral and poster presentations in the 12th Indian Fisheries Aquaculture Forum (IFAF) organized by Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) held at Chennai during 5th -7th May 2022. The institute bagged awards for research excellence and for the best oral paper and poster presentations.

Dr. P.S. Shyne Anand, Senior Scientist, Crustacean Culture Division received Professors T.J. Pandian and A.J. Matty Award, 2022 from Asian Fisheries Society for Excellence in Aquaculture Development through Research. Dr. B Shanthi, Principal Scientist, Social Sciences received TNJFU Excellence Award, 2022 for Excellence in Fisheries Extension. Dr. M.S. Sekhar, Principal Scientist and Scientist-in-Charge, Nutrition, Genetics and Biotechnology Division received the award for the best oral presentation “Unravelling of the complex genome of Indian white shrimp Penaeus indicus” in the Technical Session on Aquaculture Genetics, Breeding and Biotechnology. Shri. Vishwajeet Potadar, Research Scholar (NICRA Project) received the award for the best oral presentation “Contribution of shrimp aquaculture to global warming potential: Life cycle assessment approach” in the Technical Session Aquatic Environment and Management. Dr. Sravanthi Oduru, Research Scholar (NICRA Project) received the award for the best poster presentation “ Effect of dietary lipid level on growth performance in tiger shrimp, Penaeus monodon reared at three different water salinities” in the Technical Session on “Fish Nutrition and Feeding”. Dr. K.P. Jithendran, Director, ICAR-CIBA and all the Scientists, Officials and Staff of ICAR-CIBA profusely congratulate the award winners and for bringing laurels to the institute.
