ICAR-CIBA conducted the National Campaign on ‘Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari’ at Kottaikadu village, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu. About 80 participants including aqua farmers, farm-women, fishers and villagers participated in the programme. Dr. T. Bhuvaneswari, Scientist, AAHED welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of the programme which is organized as a part of “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav”. Dr C.V. Sairam, Principal Scientist, Social Sciences Division, explained the details about various development schemes of Govt. of India under fisheries and requested the farmers to make use of them for their development. Dr. R. Jayakumar, Principal Scientist, Fish Culture Division briefed the gathering on nursery rearing and cage culture of Asian seabass fish. Dr. T. Sivaramakrishnan, Scientist, Nutrition Unit, explained in detail about bio-fortification of crop, nutrition value of fish and fish waste products. Farmers who have participated in the campaign appreciated the role of CIBA in improving their livelihood security and requested the technical support of the institution in future also. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. R. Jayakumar, Principal Scientist who had coordinated the programme with Dr. T. Bhuvaneshwari, Scientist, AAHED and Dr. R. Geetha, Senior Scientist.
