ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Chennai and its Regional Centres celebrated the 75th year of Independence Day. Dr. K.P. Jithendran, Director hoisted the tricolour flag at the headquarters and greeted the scientists and staff of CIBA on the occasion of the birth of the 75th year of Indian independence. He congratulated them for receiving the Best Annual Report Award of ICAR for 2020. In his Independence Day address he informed that the country is celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav‘, marking the 75th year of Independence, and a series of events are being organized by the ICAR-institutes to commemorate the occasion. He further added that the contribution of fisheries sector in specific and agriculture sector as a whole to the national GDP has been growing unabated despite COVID-19 pandemic related constraints. He urged the scientists and staff to follow the COVID–19 guidelines of the Govt. of India and contribute their best in achieving the planned research and development programmes of the institute towards achieving the sustainable brackishwater aquaculture development in the country.

At Kakdwip center of ICAR-CIBA, Dr. Debasis De, OIC, KRC greeted all the staff and family members of KRC after hoisting the national Flag. To commemorate the occasion, seventy five tree saplings were planted in the campus to increase greenery which was affected severely by recent cyclone ‘Yaas’.

Navsari-Gujarat Regional Centre of ICAR-CIBA celebrated the day at BARD Farm, Matwad along with NGRC staff, SHGs and farmworkers.
