ICAR-CIBA has developed a Multiparameter Water Analysis Kit for analysis of dissolved oxygen, ammonia as TAN, nitrite, calcium & magnesium minerals, total hardness, carbonate, bicarbonate and total alkalinity in source waters and culture ponds. The kit works in wide range of aquatic environment viz., freshwater, brackishwater and marine water. The kit is commercialized to New Bio Science Co., Mysore, Karnataka and signed MoU at CIBA, Chennai on 24th January 2019 in STARTUP meeting during BRAQCON 2019 Conference by Shri. Dinesh Kumar, New Bio Science Co., and Dr. K.K. Vijayan, Director, ICAR-CIBA in the presence of Dr. Sanjeev Saxena, Assistant Director General, Intellectual Property & Technology Management, New Delhi. In his opening remarks, Director, CIBA stressed the importance of maintenance of water quality parameters in optimum levels for successful aquaculture operations in the context of culturing P. vannamei with high stocking density under widely varying salinity range by aquaculture farmers. Dr. Sanjeev Saxena valued the skill of CIBA in developing the cost effective user friendly kits for the sector. Dr. M. Muralidhar, Principal Scientist and team leader for the development of the kit narrated the necessity of the water parameters and minerals in aquaculture and the analysis of these parameters with the present kit by farmers and technicians on pond site. This event was coordinated by the Institute Technology Management – Agri Business Incubation (ITMU-ABI) unit of ICAR-CIBA. Dr. T. Ravisankar, Principal Scientist and Scientist-in-Charge, ITMU welcomed the gathering and Dr. P.K.Patil, Principal Scientist delivered the vote of thanks.
