ICAR-CIBA celebrated its annual day 2017 and family get-together on a Saturday evening, August 26, 2017at Headquarters, Chennai. The event was organized jointly by the recreational club of the Institute and the Society of Coastal Aquaculture and Fisheries (SCAFi), CIBA-Chennai. About 400 people, comprising research scholars, working scientist, administrative staffs, and retired employees of CIBA along with their family members, participated in the get-together. An exhibition of technologies, the recent publication of the institute, and aquarium of brackishwater candidate species was displayed. Family members of employees enjoyed the exhibition. Dr E.G. Silas, Founder Director CIBA & Former Vice Chancellor, Kerala Agricultural University was the chief guest for this annual day celebrations. Dr Silas addressed the gathering and interacted with the employees of CIBA. In his inspirational address, he briefed how CIBA evolved from a humble beginning to the present level. Dr K. Ambasankar, the Secretary SCAFi, and the Secretary, Recreation Club, welcomed the gathering. Dr K. K. Vijayan, Director of the Institute and President of the recreation club, in his informal address, provided an informal address to the gathering and emphasized the importance of the informal meeting of the CIBA fraternity as an opportunity for interaction, feeling of belonging and ownership for the Institute. Newly joint young scientists were introduced to the gathering, and it was followed by a cultural event and dinner.
