Dr E. G. Silas, Founder Director CIBA & Former Vice Chancellor, Kerala Agricultural University, visited the research facilities at the Muttukadu Experimental Station of CIBA on August 26, 2017. Dr K.K. Vijayan, the director, ICAR-CIBA along with the concerned division scientists welcomed him and explained various activities and the recent achievements of ICAR-CIBA in the brackishwater farming sector. He visited hatcheries of finfish, shrimp and crab, broodstock ponds, grow-out ponds, algal lab and the pilot scale feed mill, and interacted with the scientists on the ongoing research programmers on breeding and seed production. He asked to focus on the prioritized programs, considering the requirements of the rapidly developing brackishwater sector. He was extremely impressed with the progress of the CIBA along with the new developments and achievements in brackishwater farming sector. Finally, he requested the scientific team to work hard with a focus for further development and making this CIBA Muttukadu as a Center for Excellence in Brackishwater Aquaculture, in the region.
