Dr. K.K. Ramachandran, Scientist and Head, Central Geomatics Lab, Group Head Atmospheric process group, National Centre for Earth science Studies, Trivandrum ESSO, Ministry of Earth Sciences, GoI has delivered an invited talk on “GPS and Natural System Research” at ICAR-CIBA on 20th April 2018. In his talk, he detailed the fundamentals and applications of GPS vis –a –vis natural system research. He elaborated the different techniques used in and advancement made in the field of GPS and imaging. He also highlighted the applications of GPS in day to day life and resource mapping. Dr.K.K.Vijayan, President, SCAFi in his presidential remarks emphasized the necessity of convergence of different disciplines and highlighted the need for better understanding the GPS for its applicability in the mapping of brackish water resources in the country, for sustainable aquaculture use. Dr.K. Ambasankar, Vice President, SCAFi in his welcome address highlighted the initiatives of SCAFi and introduced the chief guest to the audience. More than 100 participants comprising scientists, technical officers, research scholars and other staff of CIBA attended the invited talk and clarified their doubts in the area of GPS and natural system research.
