India celebrated its 72nd Independence day on 15th August 2018 with pride and honour the great sacrifices made by patriots and freedom fighters. ICAR-CIBA celebrated the same with colourful illumination of the campus symbolizing the growth and prosperity of the country. Dr K K Vijayan, Director of the institute hoisted the tricolour flag and delivered the speech. In his address, he remembered the great sacrifices made by the great leaders and freedom fighters for getting the Independence and highlighted that it is the duty of every Indian citizen to protect the same and to strive hard for sustainable growth and prosperity of the country. Dr Vijayan also stated that the country is facing challenges like natural calamities and during those occasions, all of us need to unite, work hard and face them with courage and determination. He appreciated with happiness that CIBA got three ICAR Awards (one each for team research, best scientist and PhD thesis) during 2017, and congratulated the award winners and CIBA family for achieving the same. Further, he added that scientists especially the young scientists and other staff should not be complacent, and to keep the positive momentum. He stressed the importance of teamwork, and holistic work culture to make novel strides in the research front of the institute. CIBA scientist & staff with family members participated in the function. As a part of Independence Day celebration, CIBA campus has been illuminated with colourful lights and decoration.
