Shri Sunil Kumar Singh, Financial Advisor and Additional Secretary, DARE/ICAR made his maiden visit to ICAR-CIBA, Chennai on 5th May 2017, to familiarise with the R&D activities and discuss the financial related matters. Dr. K.K. Vijayan, the director, ICAR-CIBA welcomed him and explained various activities and role played by ICAR-CIBA in the research and development of brackish water aquaculture in the country citing the various achievements of ICAR-CIBA and technology backstopping profile of the institute.

He has first-hand experience at CIBA’s Muttukadu experimental station (MES) and research laboratories and HQ. At MES, visited the pilot scale feed mill, crab hatchery, finfish and shrimp hatcheries. He expressed his happiness about the CIBA’s research achievements and the overall contribution of the Institute for the brackishwater sector. He conveyed his best wishes to the entire CIBA family.

Later Shri. Sunil Kumar Singh addressed the scientist and staff of CIBA at its Chennai headquarters. Scientist and officers of CIBA interacted with the Financial Advisor in aspects related to the new funding policies and planning approaches of the GOI and ICAR. Dr K.K. Vijayan, the director, listed the revenue generation initiatives by the CIBA and highlighted that ITMU of CIBA has been ranked best among the ICAR fisheries institutes in transfer and commercialization of technologies. In the end, Dr K.K. Vijayan thanked the Financial Advisor (DARE/ICAR) for his personal interest in visiting CIBA and assured him that CIBA would deliver its best and come up to the expectations of the brackishwater aquaculture sector in the country.
