ICAR-CIBA formed a strategic alliance with M/s. Sri Krushna Feeds, Odisha for production of indigenous fish and shrimp feeds. At present the fish feeds used in the state of Odisha are mostly coming from corporate feed mill with technology support from multinational firm/foreign consultants. The feeds are costlier and regular availability to small and marginal farmers in the state of Odisha is a challenge. Focused research efforts at CIBA over the last five years resulted in development of CIBA shrimp and Fish feeds and branded as Plus series of  feeds.  Considering the demand for cost effective feeds for shrimp and finfishes, Srii Krushna Feeds approached ICAR- CIBA for the consultancy services on shrimp and fish feed formulations, processing and production and  has entered into a MoU on 17th January 2024, at CIBA, HQ, Chennai and the MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Kuldeep Kumar  Lal, Director CIBA. According to Director, CIBA, this effort will undoubtedly improve the economic benefits, contribute to innovation and growth, and encourage sustainability and competitiveness in the aquafeed sector in the longer run. Mr. Krushna Chandra Ghadai, CEO of Sri Krushna feeds highlighted the significance of the MoU and briefed about the outcome of the MOU and thanked CIBA for helping out this novel; initiative to help the small and medium fish farmers in the state of Odisha. Dr. K. Ambasankar, Principal Scientist and Head NGBD & team leader for the feed technology, briefed about this initiative’s genesis in line with make in India programme. The event was organized by the Institute Technology Management Unit (ITMU) of ICAR- CIBA.
