The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) in association with ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIBA) organised one day NABL Accreditation awareness program on 24th April 2019 at CIBA, Chennai. Dr. K. K. Vijayan, Director, ICAR-CIBA, Chief Guest, in his welcome address highlighted the importance of this initiative. He emphasised the need for collaborative network with stakeholders like Government organizations and laboratories to strengthen the activities in achieving issues such as food safety management and competence of testing laboratories to ensure quality standards. Mr. N. Venkateswaran, Director, NABL, New Delhi presented brief history, activities and over view of  NABL Accreditation. Ms. Rini Narayan, Deputy Director, NABL, New Delhi presented in depth procedures for NABL Accreditation. Ms. Pallavi Gautham, Technical officer, FSSAI, New Delhi and Dr.P.K.Patil, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIBA coordinated the programme. Officials from food testing laboratories located in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu and scientists from ICAR- CIBA participated in the programme.  In the group discussion on various issues related to NABL accreditation the participants actively interacted with NABL, FSSAI and CIBA officials. The programme concluded with distribution of certificates to participants.
