I joined ICAR-CIBA during August 2013. My masters and Doctorate degrees are in the discipline of Animal Genetics and Breeding. We have studied the population genetic structure of candidate species including Etroplus suratensis, Etroplus maculatus, Chanos chanos, Mugil cephalus using mtDNA markers. Microsatellite markers were also utilized to study the genetic structure of Penaeus indicus populations across Indian coasts. At present we have initiated small scale selective breeding on Etroplus suratensis at our experimental farm. Apart from core genetics studies I have interests on Molecular biology and bioinformatics too where we have cloned and sequenced few Immunoglobulin genes and started to screen the genome of candidate species to predict the antimicrobial peptides.
