I am working in ICAR-CIBA as scientist in Environment section of Aquatic Animal Health and Environment Division, since joined for agriculture research service in 2014. With professional master’s degree in aquaculture from ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai and PhD in Aqualife Medicine from Chonnam National University, Republic of Korea (2012) and one year post-doc I have been working on fish immunology and therapeutics. My research career started with a doctoral research project on the influence of temperature on fish immune response against viral infection and escape of virus from the host immune system. During post-doctoral research, I worked on the development of anti-viral therapeutics from seaweeds. Since I have joined ICAR-CIBA; been working on development of therapeutics such as bacteriophage based bio-control of vibriosis in aquaculture, development of immunostimulants for improved health of shrimp, and bioremediation for improved pond environment. Study on role of veterinary medicinal products on biosafety, residue withdrawal and environmental safety have also been significant. My research interests are studying microbial intervention in improving fish/shrimp health and environmental conditions, the influence of environmental parameters on fish/shellfish, host-pathogen interaction and development of treatment measures to improve aquaculture.
