After taking a master's in Zoology (with specialization in Fish and Fishery Science) in 1986, and PhD in Marine science in 1995 I am working in CIBA since 1994. My research efforts over the past 27 years have been focused on different aspects of marine crustacean husbandry and management with an emphasis on the crustacean reproduction in relation to the seed production. The research works have been conducted to understand and resolve the reproductive dysfunction of penaeids in seed production industry. In mud crabs I am focusing on both species inhabiting in Indian waters, Scylla serrata and S. olivacea). The larval history of both species has been successfully closed, and technology developed for hatchery production of S. serrata. The taxonomic and nomenclature confusion of Indian mud crab species have been resolved using molecular techniques. Presently I am focusing on development of an Integrated multi-trophic aquaculture system in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra.
