An exposure training on the brackishwater aquaculture was organized by KRC of ICAR-CIBA, Kakdwip, West Bengal for the 4th year B.F.sc. students of college of fisheries, Gumla, Jharkhand from May 21st to June 3rd 2024. The training was organized in response to the request from the college of fisheries, Gumla, Jharkhand as part of the student ready programme. A total of 24 students participated in the training.

The training started with a formal inaugural session and interaction meet with the students on 21st May 2024. Dr. Debasis De, Head of Regional Centre, KRC of ICAR-CIBA inaugurated the programme and, in his speech, urged the students about the importance of practical knowledge required in the aquaculture field. He also requested the students to utilize the period of stay in the research centre and gain maximum knowledge regarding the brackishwater aquaculture. The training programme was formulated to have theory as well as practical classes so as to impart the field knowledge and also to sensitize the ground level activities in a brackishwater farm. The practical sessions of the training covered induced breeding of fishes, farming and farm management of finfishes and shell fishes, fish/shrimp feed formulation, operation and management of feed mill, aquatic animal health management and soil and water quality management.

The training programme was concluded on 3rd June 2024 with a valedictory programme. The students shared their feed back regarding the training proramme during the valedictory session. They informed us the training programme was really fruitful and they could able to gain firsthand experience on brackishwater aquaculture. At the end of the programme certificates were distributed to the trainees.
