Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Director General, ICAR and Secretary, DARE visited the research facilities at the Muttukadu Experimental Station of CIBA focusing on the breeding and seed production of finfishes, shrimps, mudcrab, and the pilot-scale feed mill on 15th February, 2024. He released shrimp seeds in the nursery tank of the newly developed New Age Shrimp Farming Facility. Following this, he held discussions regarding the various R & D activities of the institute. The DG suggested that scientists emphasize on application-oriented programs, aligning with the developmental needs of the brackishwater sector.
Dr. Kuldeep K Lal, the Director of CIBA, highlighted the institute’s notable achievements, emphasizing CIBA’s pivotal role in providing technological support for advancing brackishwater aquaculture. Key areas of focus included species diversification, feed development, and health management.
The DG also visited the CIBA headquarters on 16.02.2024, seen the laboratories and interacted with the scientists and staff of the institute.
The DG extended his congratulations to the Director and scientists of CIBA for their outstanding work and achievements. He appreciated CIBA’s successful track record in commercializing viable technologies, contributing significantly to the development of brackishwater aquaculture in the country.
