ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIBA), Chennai and M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, Tamil Nadu signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaborative technology validation and extension on 5th January, 2024. The aim of the MoU is to undertake collaborative research cum technology application programme for research uptake on brackishwater fish farming technology to enhance the livelihoods of resource-dependent communities including Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes of the coastal districts. ICAR-CIBA and the Fish for all Research and Training Centre, Poompuhar, Tamil nadu jointly validate location specific and clients need-based brackishwater aquaculture based livelihood development models in the coastal districts of Tamil nadu said Dr.Kuldeep K Lal, Director, CIBA-Chennai.  The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Dr.Sowmiya Swaminathan, the Chairperson of MSSRF who presided over the 14th Anniversary of MSSRF’s Fish for All Centre on 05.01.2024. The holistic development of coastal families especially Scheduled Caste and Schedule Tribal families including their health and nutritional is very important she underlined. As per this MoU CIBA would provide the technology backstopping, inputs and capacity development support and MSSRF assumes responsibility of mobilizing beneficiaries, baseline data collection and carry out the interventions as per the CIBA technical protocols with the identified coastal families said Dr.M.Kumaran, Dr.C.VSairam Principal Scientists of CIBA and Dr.Velvizhi, the nodal scientist from MSSRF side who are the coordinators of the collaborative programme.
