Kakdwip Research Centre of ICAR-CIBA conducted seven days hands-on training on “Farming and seed production technology of brackishwater fishes” from 01st to 07th September, 2022 for the aquapreneures, farmers and students engaged with brackishwater aquaculture and fish seed production. Dr. Debasis De, Officer-in-Charge, inaugurated the training programme and briefed the trainees about recent practices of feed management in farming and hatchery. Dr. Prem Kumar, Senior Scientist and convener of the training programme explained the importance of seed production and induced breeding of commercially important brackishwater fishes. Dr. M. Kailasam, SIC, FCD; Dr. Akshaya Panigrahi, Principal Scientist, CCD, Dr. Aritra Bera, Scientist, FCD from headquarters at Chennai also interacted with trainees and highlighted the recent development in brackishwater finfish breeding and biofloc based farming. Field visit to ornamental fish hatchery gave them the exposure to current practices adopted by entrepreneurs for seed production and trade of ornamental fishes. The trainees shared their satisfaction and experiences about the training programme. Certificates were distributed to the participants during the valedictory session on 7th September, 2022.
