ICAR-CIBA had its 54th Institute Management Committee (IMC) meeting on 20th Aug, 2022 at its headquarters, Chennai. The meeting was chaired by Dr. K.P. Jithendran, Director, CIBA & Chairman, IMC. Members of the IMC, Dr. B.P. Mohanty, ADG (Inland Fisheries), ICAR, Dr. K.V. Rajendran, Head, Aquatic Environment and Health Management Division (CIFE), Dr. G.S. Saha, Principal Scientist (CIFA), Dr. Shubhadeep Ghosh, SIC, Visakhapatnam Regional Centre of CMFRI, Shri. S. Sathish Kumar, farmers’ representative from Tamil Nadu and several co-opted members from CIBA representing Administration, Finance, PME and Engineering cell participated in the meeting. Dr. P.K. Pradhan, Principal Scientist (NBFGR) joined virtually in the meeting. The meeting started with the welcome address by Smt. V. Usharani, Administrative Officer (AO). The chairman, IMC made a general presentation on CIBA’s R&D profile and research focus concerning the Indian brackishwater aquaculture sector. This was followed by presentations on progress on annual budget expenditure, works, stores purchase etc. Finally, newly proposed items which are on priority of the institute management were presented by the AO for discussion and which were unanimously approved by the members of the IMC. In the concluding remarks, all members appreciated the progress of CIBA in R&D, technology development, commercialization, revenue generation and societal development aspects. They also gave positive proposals on the elements such as centralization of equipment, commercialization of ornamental fish feeds, data management, species selection for diversification etc. In the end, Smt. V. Usharani, AO, thanked all the members for their suggestions and active participation.
