ICAR-CIBA celebrated the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence with pride and honour on 15th August, 2022 at its headquarters and regional centres. Dr. K.P. Jithendran, Director, ICAR-CIBA hoisted the National Flag with full honours and the National Anthem was sung by the scientists, technical, supporting staff and their family members and contractual staff who were present during the occasion. The Director in his address narrated the campaigns and events organized by the institute during the last one year as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The major activities included organization of National Campaign in various forms both in online and off line mode, documentation of success stories on doubling of farmers’ income, and documentation of major research and societal development achievements in brackishwater aquaculture. In the concluding ceremony of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav during 13-15th August 2022, ICAR-CIBA organized two programmes on Har Ghar Tiranga, for the school children in Chennai City and for aqua farmers and fishers in Pattipulam village in Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu, in which more than 370 school children, teachers, aqua farmers, fishers and farm women were participated. Dr. Jithendran continued his address on the progress made by the institute during the last one year in research, extension and administrative front.
To celebrate Har Ghar Tiranga National Flags were distributed to all the scientists, officers, staff and research scholars and farmer beneficiaries hoist it at their home during the eve of 76th Independence Day. At Muttukadu Experimental Station of CIBA, wherein Dr. Senthil Murugan, Principal Scientist, Finfish Culture Division hoisted the National Flag which was followed by planting of tree samplings in the campus. At Kakdwip Research Centre of ICAR-CIBA, Dr. Debasis De, Principal Scientist & Officer-in-Charge, hoisted the National Flag and greeted all the staff and family members of KRC. Cultural events and drawing competition was conducted with participation of children of KRC staff during 13-15 August, 2022. Shri. Pankaj Amrut Patil, Scientist & Officer-in-Charge, NGRC-CIBA, Navsari unfurled the National Flag at the NGRC research farm and Independence Day was celebrated in a splendid way. On this occasion Shri. Pankaj Patil emphasized on the sacrifices laid down by the freedom fighters to obtain Azadi and on the progress the nation has made in various spheres during the last 75 years.
