ICAR-CIBA organised “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign at Pattipulam village, Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu on 12.08.2022 under the SCSP scheme as a part of Azad Ka Amrit Mahotsav. About 120 aqua farmers, fishers and coastal community families participated in the campaign. The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. T. Bhuvaneswari, Senior Scientist & Nodal Officer (SCSP Scheme). Dr. M. Kailasam, Principal Scientist & Scientist-in-Charge, Finfish Culture Division briefed the gathering about the salient achievements made during the past 75 glorious years of independence. He outlined the ICAR-CIBA’s research programmes and highlighted the major technologies developed to promote brackishwater aquaculture as a livelihood activity for small and marginal aqua farmers and coastal fishers. Dr. P. Ezhil Praveena, Senior Scientist, Aquatic Animal Health Division narrated about the sacrifices made by our great leaders for India’s independence. The significance of Har Ghar Tiranga, genesis of national flag and code of hoisting in the houses were briefed by her. Dr. Aritra Bera and Shri. R. Aravind, Scientists explained about the brackishwater aquaculture technologies for the societal development and encouraged the coastal families to adopt them to strengthen their livelihoods. Mr. K. Suresh, VAO of Pattipulam village thanked ICAR-CIBA for its initiative and appealed to the villagers to involve actively in all the programmes with wholehearted support. Village leaders Mr. I. Ramesh, Mr. Anbu and Mr. Vethagiri also participated in the programme and distributed the national flag to all the villagers for hoisting in their homes from 13 to 15 August on the eve of Independence Day celebrations. Thiru. D. Rajamanickam, ACTO, CIBA assisted in organising the programme. Shri. R. Aravind proposed vote of thanks.
