Fifty B.Tech (Biotechnology) IInd year students from the Department of Biotechnology, accompanied by two faculty members, from Karpaga Vinayaga College of Engineering and Technology, Chengalpattu visited Muttukadu Experimental Station (MES) of ICAR-CIBA on 9th September, 2022. The objective was to visit the foremost research institutions to gain practical experience. The visit was coordinated by Dr. D. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist, Social Sciences Division, who highlighted the studies on diverse set of socio-economic issues affecting the sector and livelihood development models under SC & TSP. The students were given opportunity to plant tree saplings in the campus so as to inculcate the importance of natural resources. Dr. Shyne Anand, Senior Scientist, Dr. T.N. Vinay, Scientist and Shri. S. Rajamanickam, Senior Technical Officer, Crustacean Culture Division explained the breeding techniques and culture activities of shellfish and finfish. The students were also shown other facilities at MES including shrimp, crab and finfish hatcheries and farm facilities.
