Fifty eight second year B.Sc. (Hons.), Horticulture students from SRM College of Agricultural   Sciences, Maduranthagam Taluk, Chengalpattu District visited Muttukadu Experimental Station of ICAR-CIBA on 20th September 2022, as a part of their exposure visit. Their visit commenced with planting of tree saplings at MES campus. Dr. D. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist, SSD focused on doubling of farmers income and partnering with the scientists of technology development divisions to refine their farm innovations by enhancing the livelihood status of aqua farmers, farm women and coastal fisher communities. Dr. P. Kumararaja, Senior Scientist highlighted the research activities of the Environment Section. He briefed on the water quality analysis methods such as laboratory techniques, on farm measurement by water quality kits and meters, and recent advancement of continuous water quality monitoring by online meters and probes. In addition to that, demonstration of water sampling for dissolved oxygen analysis by Wrinkler’s method and nitrogen metabolites (TAN & NON) by bit method. The finfish hatchery activities were explained in detail by Shri. G. Thiagarajan, Senior Technical Assistant, FCD.  Dr. D. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist, SSD and Dr. Dr. K. Kumararaja, Senior Scientist, Soil and Water Environment Section coordinated the visit.
