Navsari-Gujarat Research Centre (NGRC) of ICAR-CIBA conducted a 6-day field orientation training for the shrimp farmers of Rajasthan from 28th June to 3rd July, 2022 with funding support from Department of Fisheries Department, Govt. of Rajasthan under the PMMSY scheme. Eleven shrimp farmers from Churu and Sri Ganganagar districts of Rajasthan accompanied by two Officials of Fisheries Department, Rajasthan attended the training. The farmers were provided hands on training on better management of practices of shrimp farming with a focus on inland saline soil aquaculture, nursery rearing of seabass and seed production protocols for pearl spot at NGRC farm at Matwad, Navsari, Gujarat.

In addition to on-farm training at NGRC of CIBA, the farmers were taken to a shrimp nursery rearing unit of M/s Mayank Aquaculture Pvt. Ltd. at Borsi village, Navsari, shrimp processing plants viz., HN Indigos, Navsari and Zeal Aquaculture Pvt., Ltd, Olpad, Surat, shrimp farms in Olpad Surat and integrated fish farming and reservoir-based cage culture at Singod village and Ukai reservoir, respectively to give first hand exposure on concerned subjects. The program concluded on 3rd July, 2022 with positive feedback from the participating farmers. Dr. C.P. Juyal, Deputy Director (Fisheries), Govt. of Rajasthan and Dr. K.P. Jithendran, Director, ICAR-CIBA, coordinated and facilitated the entire program.
