ICAR-CIBA organized a Farmers-Scientists interface on climate resilient varieties, technologies and practices on 28th September 2021 as a part of 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence at HQ and Muttukadu Experimental Station. About 115 participants including farmers, scientists, aqua entrepreneurs, students participated in the programme. Dr. K.P. Jithendran, Director, ICAR-CIBA in his address highlighted the importance of climate resilient varieties in agriculture in general and aquaculture in particular. He also stated that CIBA is undertaking smart aquaculture based on Artificial Intelligence techniques for achieving to resolve the emerging challenges. Dr R. Saraswathy, Principal Scientist, Environment Section, presented in detail on various aspects of climate resilient agriculture including aquaculture. This was followed by an interface of CIBA Scientists with farmers, students from Madras University and other stakeholders. Dr. M. Kailasam, SIC, FCD and his team gave seeds of 1000 numbers of ornamental fish (2.0 cm size) @500 to each farmer viz., silver moony (Monodactylus argenteus) to the farmers. Dr. M. Kailasam, SIC, FCD and Dr. C.V. Sairam, SIC, SSD coordinated the events with Dr. S. Kannappan and Dr. P. Mahalakshmi, Principal Scientists, Dr. Ezhil Praveena, and Dr. R. Geetha, Senior Scientists, Dr. K.P. Sandeep, SIC, MES Muttukadu, Shri. R. Aravind, Scientist CCD, Shri. Dani Thomas, Scientist, FCD and Shri. Shri Biju I Francis, Scientist, CCD.
