ICAR-CIBA joined hands with the team of BRC Marine Products, Dhamana, Bhadrak district, Odisha, a seafood processing and exports firm specializing in marine products on 27th December 2024. The present MoU is for evaluating the utility of rice distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) in the diet of pacific white shrimp, P. vannamei. This MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Lal, Director ICAR-CIBA. He highlighted the importance alternative protein sources and stressed the necessity for diversified resources for sustainability and cost effectiveness. Dr K. Ambasankar, Principal Scientist and team leader for this work program, briefed about the genesis and  significance of this MoU and outlined scope of its use in aqua feed production. This effort will undoubtedly improve the economic benefits, contribute to innovation and growth, and encourage sustainability and competitiveness in the aqua feed sector in the longer run. Mr. S.N. Yadav, BRC Marine Products, Odisha explained about their company’s initiatives in the area of marine products processing, aquaculture and bio ethanol production. He also expressed about the potential and future prospects of rice DDGS as an alternative protein source to soybean meal in aqua feeds for lending sustainability to Indian aqua feed sector. The event was organized by the Institute Technology Management Unit (ITMU) CIBA, and SIC, ITMU, Dr. P.K. Patil expressed the vote of thanks.
