ICAR-CIBA inked MoU with M/s. Siri Industries, Tumakuru, Karnataka for technology support to produce indigenous fish feeds on consultancy basis. At present, there is no fish feed mill in the state and the fish feeds are mostly bought from corporate feed mills located in neighboring states. Due to that the cost of the feeds are relatively high and regular availability to small and marginal fish farmers in the state is a challenge. CIBA has the technology for fish feed formulations and branded as plus series of feeds. Considering the demand for cost effective feeds for finfishes, M/s. Siri Industries approached ICAR- CIBA for technology support on fish feed formulations, processing and production and has entered into a MoU on 14th March 2023, at CIBA, HQ, Chennai.

Dr. K. Kuldeep Lal, Director CIBA underscored that this effort undoubtedly improve the economic benefits, contribute to innovation and growth, and encourage sustainability and competitiveness in the aqua-feed sector in the longer run.

Dr. B. Vinod, Managing Partner of M/s. Siri Industires felt that outcome of this MOU would help the small and medium fish farmers in the state of Karnataka.

Dr K. Ambasankar, Principal Scientist and team leader for nutrition and feed technology, briefed about the work plan of this initiative’s in line with make in India programme. The event was organized by the Institute Technology Management Unit (ITMU) of ICAR- CIBA and ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. P.K. Patil , SIC, ITMU, CIBA.
