Forty six II B.F.Sc. students, accompanied by a faculty member, from Dr. J Jayalalitha Fisheries University, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu visited Muttukadu Experimental Station of ICAR-CIBA on 16.12.2022. The objective of this exposure visit was to gain knowledge and awareness on latest developments in the field of brackishwater aquaculture research.  The visit was organised by Dr.D.Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist, Social sciences Division, who highlighted the studies on diverse set of socio-economic issues affecting the sector and the livelihood development models under Tribal Sub Plan and Scheduled Caste Special Programme.  The students were given opportunity to plant tree saplings in the campus so as to inculcate the importance of natural resources and protection of environment. Shri,T.Sivaramakrishnan, Scientist, Nutrition Genetics and Biotechnology Division explained the activities of the feed mill facilities. Shri.R.Aravind, Scientist, Crustacean Culture Division and Shri. S.Rajamanickam, Senior Tech Officer, CCD explained the breeding techniques and culture activities of shellfish. The students witnessed the facilities at Muttukadu Experimental Station, including shrimp, crab hatcheries and farm facilities.
