As a part of the mandatory activity in the course curriculum, 40 second year B.F.Sc students with two staff members from Dr. M.G.R. Fisheries College and Research Institute, Ponneri, Tiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu and 30 third year B.Tech. Biotechnology, School of Biosciences and Technology, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore students accompanied by three faculty members undertaken an educational tour to gain knowledge and practical exposure in fisheries and visited MES of ICAR during the second week (07th & 10th) of November 2022. Their visit commenced with planting of tree saplings at MES campus in each group was asked to plant sapling in the campus in order to stimulate the students about eco-friendly maintenance. ICAR-CIBA provided the saplings for these green initiatives. Shri. K.P. Sandeep, Scientist & Officer-in-Charge, MES of CIBA gave a snapshot about MES. Later, the students visited the research facilities in shrimp, finfish and crab hatcheries. Shri. R. Aravind, Scientist, Crustacean Culture Division, Shri. T. Sivaramakrishnan, Scientist, Nutrition, Genetics and Biotechnology Division and S. Rajamanickam, Assistant Chief Technical Officer, CCD interacted with the visiting students in the respective divisions. Dr. (Mrs) D. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist, Social Sciences Division and Shri. K.P. Sandeep, Scientist, NGBD & SIC-MES coordinated these visits.
