ICAR – Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Chennai observed the Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) from 31st October to 6th November, 2022. To start with the scientists and staff of CIBA took the “Integrity Pledge for Organisations” under the leadership of Dr.Kuldeep Kumar Lal, Director, ICAR-CIBA on 31st October, 2022. The Institute also encouraged the family members of the staff and the persons with whom the Institute deals with for purchase and services to take the e-pledge (Integrity Pledge) available on the website of the Central Vigilance Commission. Subsequently various competitions such as essay writing, cartoon making and an open quiz programme on the theme “Corruption-free India for a Developed Nation” were conducted during the week.

On 4th November, 2022 during the concluding session Dr.M.Muralidhar, Principal Scientist and Vigilance Officer of the Institute gave introductory remarks on the VAW and urged all the staff to submit the Annual Immovable Property Returns (AIPO) on time. Dr.J.Syama Dayal, Principal Scientist and Central Public Information Officer of the Institute delivered a talk on ‘Awareness on RTI Act 2005’ and explained the intricacies of the act. Shri Navin Kumar Jha, Chief Administrative Officer of the Institute briefly narrated the matters fall under the vigilance. Dr.Kuldeep Kumar Lal, Director in his valedictory speech mentioned that always ‘Be Vigilant’ and explained the difference between vigilant and activist with few examples. He also mentioned that the general public should be aware of their rights and urged everyone to be self-disciplined and self-regulatory. He also distributed prizes to the winners of the competitions. Shri Raghvendra, Assistant Administrative Officer of the Institute compered the valedictory programme.
