On 18th October 2022, 27 post graduate students of final year M.Sc. Zoology, Department of Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology, Loyola College, Chennai, along with two faculty members and on 19th October 2022, 53 Final Year B.F.Sc. students, College of Fisheries, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra visited the Muttukadu Experimental Station (MES) of ICAR-CIBA. The objective of their exposure visit was to make the field trip a pedagogical tool to achieve academic learning outcomes. Based on the guidance and instructions from Dr. K.P. Jithendran, Director, ICAR-CIBA, as part of the green campus initiative, the students planted tree saplings at the institutional premises. Dr. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist, Social Sciences Division briefed the students about the research activities and infrastructure in MES and the technological support and delivery mechanisms by which the institute creditably transferring technical know-how and do-how to fish/shrimp farmers. Later, Dr. T. Senthil murugan, Principal Scientist, Fish Culture Division and Shri. S. Rajamanickam, Senior Technical Officer, Crustacean Culture Division, explained in detail about the on-going fish and shrimp/crab hatchery research activities. The students also witnessed the feed mill facilities of the station. This field exposure visit was coordinated by Dr. D. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist, Social Sciences Division and Shri. K.P. Sandeep, OIC-MES & Scientist, Nutrition Genetics and Biotechnology Division.
