On 11th October 2022, twenty six post graduate students along with a faculty member from  Department of Oceanography and Coastal Area Studies (Thondi campus) Alagappa University, Karaikudi and on 12th October 2022, another batch of thirty four B. Tech (Biotechnology) students with a faculty from Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalitha Fisheries University, OMR Campus, Vaniyanchavadi  and 21 final year postgraduate Zoology students from Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women  accompanied by two faculty members visited Muttukadu Experimental Station (MES) of CIBA. The aim of these visits was to provide them with an opportunity to interact with researchers and integrate new perspectives under informal environments to enhance learning initiatives. As a part of their visit, each group of students planted tree saplings at MES. Shri. K.P. Sandeep, Scientist, Nutrition, Genetics and Biotechnology Division & Officer-in-charge, MES highlighted the facilities available at the campus. Dr. D. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist, Social Sciences Division explained the demonstrations and extension activities conducted by ICAR-CIBA for enhancing the livelihood status of the coastal rural communities. Later on, the students visited the shrimp hatchery, finfish hatchery complex and the feed mill, where the activities were explained to them in detail by Shri. R. Aravind, Scientist, CCD, Shri. S. Rajamanickam, Senior Technical Officer, CCD and Dr. T. Senthil Murugan, Principal Scientist, Fish Culture Division and Dr. R. Subburaj, Assistant Chief Technical Officer, FCD. These visits were coordinated by Dr. D. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist, Social Sciences Division and Shri. K.P. Sandeep, Scientist, NGBD & OIC, MES.
